What is Leafy?
Leafy is a one-stop-shop mobile website for succulents and cacti that arrive speedy and healthy at your doorstep. They can be purchased either locally or directly through our company, both via subscription and single purchase.
The mobile site has care guides and accessories such as planters and dirt The site includes merchandise, collateral, care information, an A to Z guide to plants, and all around great vibes. Leafy redefines your plant purchasing experience in a new world.
Design Process
This project was created with clean and modern aesthetics in mind, so to create the most effective and user-friendly product, research was a key first step. Leafy was started from square one with finding an effective color scheme, logo, and clear messaging and mission.
Persona
A user persona was also utilized after a mood board was set in order to find the ideal audience and keep the user in mind throughout the user flow and wireframing process.
Prototyped Mobile Website
A working model of the prototype from home page to checkout was created utilizing Figma’s prototype capabilities. The prototype required creating components and relying on the already-fleshed out design system from earlier in the process.
Animations from the loading page were also designed to illustrate the moment the user opens the site in real time.
My Roles:
I am the sole idea maker, graphic designer, UX/UI designer, illustrator, copywriter, and editor.
Programs Used:
Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop
Wireframes
The goal was to find an easy-to-navigate start to finish from the homepage to completing the order. The wireframes helped create a cohesive outline to start the flow from homepage across the site.
Insights
In the design of this project, I became proficient in the workings of how an e-commerce mobile website can be designed and prototyped, keeping in mind the company and user’s end goal to create a simple and effective user flow throughout the site. Creating a clean design system and components to match made all the difference in consistency throughout each page and ensuring an easy experience throughout.
As the sole designer throughout this project, I was able to see the melding of aesthetics, user experience, and how important the design system was to rely on to create the best possible outcomes.
